Disaggregated Metop ASCAT NRT SSM at 1 km NRT

Maps of the soil moisture content in the surface layer (0-2 cm) generated from the Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) limited to the H SAF area, processed shortly after each satellite orbit completion. It is generated by disaggregating the Metop-B ASCAT NRT soil moisture 25 km sampling product, to 0.5-km sampling with downscaling parameters derived from ENVISAT ASAR (C-band).

Soil Wetness Profile Index in the roots region retrieved by Metop ASCAT surface wetness scatterometer assimilation method

Analysed liquid soil moisture profile index at 25 km spatial sampling for four different soil layers (covering the root zone from the surface to ~ 3 metres) generated at ECMWF by the dedicated H SAF soil moisture assimilation system at 24 hour time steps. The analysed soil moisture fields are based on the assimilation of ASCAT-derived surface soil moisture and screen level temperature and humidity observations. SM-DAS-2 is produced daily at 00 UTC with a timeliness of 12-36 hours.

The analysed soil moisture fields are based on the assimilation of scatterometer-derived surface soil moisture and screen level temperature and humidity observations. This product provides a consistent time series (1992-2018) of root zone soil moisture with a daily global coverage at 00 UTC.
